Mushrooms Along The Potomac

Join the Conservancy for a walk along the C&O Canal to learn about mushrooms with mushroom enthusiast Buddy Kilpatrick. Buddy has been studying, picking, and eating wild edible mushrooms and fungi for more than 20 years. He has served as president and newsletter editor of a local mycological organization, and is currently a member of the Western Pennsylvania Mushroom Club. Buddy has also taught adult education courses in mushroom foraging at Chautauqua Institution and Arlington County Adult Education, and has presented mushroom and plant workshops at a number of regional events. He has a PhD in public policy from George Mason University, and in real life is an economic policy consultant. Please RSVP.
Voices of The River: The Glen Echoes

Come listen to the Glen Echoes “ring a chord” as this barbershop quartet sings in close harmony with the flow of the river on the porch of the River Center. The Glen Echoes are an a capella quartet with Charlie Sheridan, singing Bass, Richard Cook, singing Lead, Mike Holmes, singing Tenor, and Ken Sleeman, singing Baritone. They are a registered barbershop quarter with the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America.
Potomac River Jam
Sunday, October 18, 8 am-4 pm
Join Potomac Conservancy for our second annual Potomac River Jam - A day-long celebration of the river and canal. Various local musicians will perform acoustic sets throughout the afternoon. Enjoy a little sample of this summer’s River Center events, such as a morning bird walk and nature photography session, as well as, a tree identification and medicinal plant walk. Canoe trips over to Minnie’s Island will be offered. Bring the kids for face-painting and other activities. All events are free.
