River Center Opening Day Celebration

River Center at Lock 8, Cabin John, MD
Come celebrate the opening of the Conservancy’s eighth season at the River Center!
From 10am-12pm we will be having a Canal Stewards cleanup events.Cleanup activities will include invasive plant removal, trash pickup, and trail maintenance.
Following our cleanup event, join us from 1pm-2pm for a photo-trek along the Potomac and C&O Canal led by photographer Katie Kassof. This photography program is open to all ages.

Photography along the Potomac

Join the Conservancy for a photo-trek along the Potomac and C&O Canal and capture beautiful photographs of the river. Enjoy an afternoon outside and practice your picture taking skills. Canal Stewards at Fletcher’s Cove

Boathouse at Fletcher’s Cove, 4940 Canal Rd NW, Washington, DC 20007
Join us at Fletcher’s Cove! We'll be meeting at 10 am at Fletcher’s Cove to clean up the picnic area and surrounding trails. This cleanup is open to all ages, and we'll provide all the necessary supplies - just wear clothes that can get dirty! This event is part of the National Park Service's Canal Stewards program, engaging volunteers to become long-term caretakers of a site within the C & O Canal National Historical park. Typical activities include picking up trash, pruning vegetation, or repairing the towpath and trails. Contact Lien Vu at vu@potomac.org with any questions.
Glen Echo Bamboo Restoration Project

Come join Potomac Conservancy and National Park Service in a service project to remove invasive bamboo from a site at Glen Echo Park! After the bamboo is removed, this site will be restored with various native plants.

National Trails Day

Celebrate National Trails Day with Potomac Conservancy! Join us for a full day of service and outdoor fun on this nationwide day of appreciation. In the morning, we need volunteers to help restore the towpath and trails, prune back vegetation, and pick up trash near the River Center at Lock 8. Afterwards, we’ll relax with live music and a nature walk led by one of our volunteer naturalists. The Conservancy will provide all the necessary equipment – just wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Since 1993, National Trails Day has helped tens of thousands of Americans get outdoors to celebrate and appreciate their local trails – why not join in the fun?
