River Center at Lock 8, C&O Canal National Historical Park,
Join Potomac Conservancy for our fourth annual Potomac River Jam - a day-long celebration of the river and canal.

See below for an updated schedule of events!

Local musicians will play acoustic sets of Celtic, folk and indie music throughout the afternoon. Enjoy a little sample of the River Center events from this summer.

Canoe trips on the Potomac will be offered. Bring the kids for face-painting and other activities.  All events are free.

Nature Walks along the C&O Canal

  • 10 AM – Mushroom Walk – Buddy Kilpatrick
  • 11 AM – Medicinal Plant Walk – Randa Steblez
  • 12 PM – Kid’s Bug Walk – Deborah Landau

Music
After the nature walks, join us from 1 pm - 4 pm for music sets with local musicians:

  • 1 PM – Bill Jenkins’ World of Music (Children's music)
  • 2 PM – Howard*Fred*and*Sandy (Bluegrass)
  • 3 PM – Lilt (Celtic/Irish)

     Art

    The Jam will feature an art exhibit displaying the works of local artisits Adnan Alsaffar, Hushang Tohidloo, Nan Fuhrman, and Mimi Betz.


    Canoe Rides:
    Take a canoe ride on the Potomac River.  Rides are available every 20 minutes, from11 amto 4 pm. First come, first served-- sign up at event for a 15 minute timeslot.
