Fall Forestry & Wildlife Bus Tour - Cedar Creek Watershed

On October 25, 2007, The 31st annual Fall Forestry and Wildlife Bus Tour will visit southwestern Frederick County to investigate forest and wildlife management in recent years. Attendees will also hear from a local historian about wood's use in the iron ore industry at the turn of the 20th century. Local foresters will lead tours on land that they have personally helped manage for over twenty years. Riparian management, specific to wildlife, will be addressed by experts from Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries.
Directions: Take I-81, exit 298 to Rt. 11 S. Proceed on 11S approximately 1/2 mile. We will meet at the parking lot just past the Food Lion (there is a stand alone ATM in the parking lot). Registration will begin at 9:00 am and we will depart at 9:30 am. We will return by 3:30 pm. Sponsors include: VDOF, VDGIF, NewPage Corp., Lord Fairfax Soil and Water Conservation District, and Virginia Cooperative Extension.
