Annual PICNIC ON THE POTOMAC!
Join the Potomac Conservancy's Board and staff for
our annual Picnic on the Potomac!
When: Saturday, July 17, from 4 'til 7 pm
Where: Carderock Pavilion, Carderock, Maryland (Directions)
Why: To enjoy a fun evening of good food, drinks, music, games, and friends!
To Support: Join Potomac Conservancy or renew your membership. Bring a friend with you to the picnic to introduce them to our work.
Details: Potomac Conservancy will provide grillers, beer, water, and lemonade, but we ask that you bring a potluck dish. The Potomac River Ramblers will to fill the air with bluegrass and country music. Kids will enjoy face painting and games, while you spend time with others who share your love for the Potomac. You'll also have the chance to win door prizes. And don't forget to bring your dogs!
Please bring: Admission is free, but please bring a potluck dish. If your last name begins with:
- A-E, bring a main dish;
- F-J, bring an appetizer;
- K-P, bring an salad;
- Q-Z, bring a dessert.
Fun: Music by the Potomac River Ramblers, dancing, children's games, door prizes, and more!
Volunteer: Potomac Conservancy is seeking volunteers to help with the annual picnic. Opportunities include helping at the registration table, grilling, and assisting with children's games.

Directions to Carderock Pavilion
From I-495 Beltway: (Southbound from I-270 in Maryland)
- Take exit for Clara Barton Pkwy west toward Carderock
- At first right, exit Pkwy at Carderock Picnic area and Naval Surface Warfare Center.
- Turn left at top of exit and cross over Clara Barton Pkwy.
- Continue straight and veer toward right down hill into the Carderock Picnic area.
- Look for Potomac Conservancy signs.
From I-495 Beltway: (Northbound from I-66 in Virginia)
- Take exit for Clara Barton Parkway (first exit in MD across the Potomac River).
- Follow Exit branch Westbound (toward Great Falls).
- At first right, exit Pkwy at Carderock Picnic area and Naval Surface Warfare Center.
- Turn left at top of exit and cross over Clara Barton Pkwy.
- Continue straight and veer toward right down hill into the Carderock Picnic area.
- Look for Potomac Conservancy signs.
From Washington, DC
- Follow Canal St. west from Georgetown toward Cabin John, MD.
- Continue on Canal St. past Chain Bridge.
- Canal St. becomes Clara Barton Parkway and as it continues west.
- Pass the exit for Cabin John and pass under I-495 (the Beltway).
- At first right past the Beltway, exit Pkwy at Carderock Picnic area and Naval Surface Warfare Center.
- Turn left at top of exit and cross over Clara Barton Pkwy.
- Continue straight and veer toward right down hill into the Carderock Picnic area.
- Look for Potomac Conservancy signs.
