Project Plant-a-Seed:

Project Plant a Seed is a two-pronged approach at introducing middle school students to the importance of water quality and watershed protection. The first phase consists of a classroom experience to introduce students to the basic equipment and methods used in the field trip. We also introduce students to the basic concepts and importance of water quality and watershed protection.

The second phase involves the students in field work on a Shenandoah River watershed. They test water quality and inventory aquatic macro-invertebrates and riparian vegetation. Finally, they use the test and inventory results to make their own assessment of the water quality and general health of the Shenandoah River.
